DanCell client TDC gets close to USD 1,35 billion for its 19.4% shares in Polkomtel.
In 1995 through 1996 DanCell supported TDC management as mobile telecoms advisers in the bidding process for the third license in Poland. The effort involved many aspects of mobile telephony and eventually led to the successful winning of the license in Poland in July 1996 and the formation of Polkomtel which is now a very successful operator in Poland under the Plus brand.
TDC sold their 19,4% of the shares in Polkomtel in Q4 2008 and received a cash payment for the sale of the shares at DKK 5.4 billion. In addition,
TDC in the period July 2006 to November 2008 received dividends from
Polkomtel to DKK 1.7 billion or a total return on the investment of over
USD 1,3 billion substantially exceeding the original expectations.
