DanCell provided management services to the Joint Venture between the founders of Nordisk Mobiltelefon AB and Siminn in Iceland including feasibility studies and radio planning thus contributing to the success of winning the license for a CDMA in Iceland. The network was rolled out in Greater Reykjavik based on CDMA2000 in the 450MHz band thus providing excellent broadband coverage with less than ten percent of the investments required with for other broadband technologies considered and with the opportunity to provide broadband coverage at sea for the fishing industry which is one of the pillars in the Icelandic economy. The network roll out has since been put on hold due to the financial crisis which has been particularly hard on the Icelandic economy.
